Trying to identify the age of uniforms can be a bit of a nightmare, here we have a brief guide to some of the labels found inside the outfits of our favourite Action Man and Gi Joe figures along with the year they were first produced.

GI JOE

G.I. Joe was licensed to several countries:

Palitoy held the license in the UK and marketed GI Joe as Action Man from 1966. In Spain in the early 1970’s Geyper held the license and rebranded him as Geyperman, also in the early 70’s in Germany he was sold as Action Team.

In France from 1976 to 1981 he was Group Action Joe and in Brazil he was manufactured by Estrella as Falcon.
Japan had a number of licenses, Takara a Hasbro licensee sold him as “GI JOE” and “Combat Man” while Tsukuda a Palitoy sub-licensee sold him as Action Man.
