Beware the PayPal Goods & Service Scam
We all know that when it comes to buying on social media that it is always best to pay by PayPal Goods & Service as it gives us some guarantee that we will get our stuff or a full refund. However, it looks like paying via Goods & Service on PayPal may not be as good as we all thought
A while back I purchased two figures and paid using PayPal G&S, the seller sent me a postal receipt and I thought all was fine until the package arrived with no figures in it just a load of crumpled up brown paper.
I contacted the seller only to find I was blocked so I tried sending them an email which bounced back. I then put a dispute in with PayPal stating that the goods weren’t in the package, after a few days PayPal replied telling me to put a claim in with the carrier, I explained to them that as I was not the sender I couldn’t do that and once again re-iterated that I had been unable to contact the seller.
After getting no reply I phoned PayPal who advised me to wait for a response from the team dealing with my dispute. I eventually got a reply saying that the seller had provided proof of postage and proof of my receiving the package along with photographs and that they had closed the case in favour of the seller.
I could see I wasn’t going to get anywhere going down this route so appealed the case and submitted some evidence of my own, after a few days I got a full refund from PayPal.
I wont disclose on here what evidence I submitted as I don’t want to give away anything that might help the scammers that are hiding amongst us, but suffice to say it was conclusive and I will share it privately with any customers or members of the Facebook groups that I am in who have been caught out by this latest scam….
