So we have all seen these pics of amazing looking figures, vehicles and outfits that someone in the group wants an idea of price on, and while most are from genuine members there are a few from not so genuine people.
The scammers will post a picture of something that they want information on, and because all they are asking for is info they get round the groups rule that states all sales posts must have a name and date on the pics.
The way the scam works is quite simple, the scammer posts a picture of say a vintage boxed action man, they ask if anyone knows what its worth as they are thinking of selling it.
So now that the hook has been baited they wait for someone to bite
While most group members will post in the comments section some will contact the seller directly with an offer to buy.
Now they will carefully start to reel you in
They will accept your offer and insist on paypal friends and family and the minute you pay them they will suspend their facebook account leaving you with nothing. and they wont stop at one they will reel in as many as they can in a short space of time and scam the lot of you.
Eventually they will re-appear with a different name and profile picture and do it all over again.
- Never pay by F&F unless you know the seller
- Always ask for more pictures with a name and date on them
- Ask members in the group if they know them
- Check their profile for anomalies, some things stand out more than others
- Ask about them in the group, let other members help you check them out
Can’t believe this one tried the old “my kid is sick” routine on me to get her post put back up in one of the groups I am admin on
She can post but only if you pay using her cash app..
This scammer appeared in a few groups, remember if its too good to be true then it usually is…
I reported this one in a number of facebook groups but it looks like someone thinks they have grabbed a bargain….
