Action Man and G.I. Joe are two of the most popular and enduring toy lines in history, and both have a fascinating backstory. Here is a brief history of each:

G.I. Joe was an American toy line produced by Hasbro that was first introduced in 1964. The original figure was a 12-inch military-themed doll designed to compete with Barbie, but with a more realistic and rugged appearance. The G.I. Joe line quickly expanded to include a variety of outfits and accessories, as well as vehicles and playsets. In the 1980s, G.I. Joe was reinvented as a line of 3.75-inch action figures with a more sci-fi and fantasy theme, including characters like the ninja warrior Snake Eyes and the Cobra terrorist organization. The line was a massive success, and spawned a popular animated TV series, comic books, and a movie. G.I. Joe has remained a popular toy line to this day, with numerous updates and iterations over the years.

Action Man was a British toy line produced by Palitoy (later acquired by Hasbro) that was first introduced in 1966. The original figure was a licensed version of Hasbro’s American G.I. Joe line, but with a more realistic military appearance. Action Man figures were sold in a variety of outfits and accessories, ranging from soldier uniforms to sports equipment and adventure gear. The line was a massive success, with over 16 million figures sold in the UK alone by the end of the 1970s. In the 1980s and 1990s, Action Man figures were updated to reflect modern military and espionage themes, and the line was later revived in the 2000s with a new look and storyline.

Both Action Man and G.I. Joe have had a major impact on popular culture, inspiring countless toys, movies, TV shows, and other media. They remain beloved by collectors and fans around the world, and their legacy continues to inspire new generations of toys and entertainment.

Here at Action Man Supplies we have a large selection of new and used Vintage and Modern Action Man and GI Joe Figures, Uniforms, Equipment and Vehicles all ready to be deployed to their new location.

The majority of goods offered for sale on this site are previously owned and often in varying degrees of play worn condition, and whilst we always try to give detailed and accurate descriptions of items for sale, toys this old will always show signs of wear commensurate with their age – hence they are not always “perfect”, so please bear this in mind when ordering.

REPAIRS & RESTORATIONS

Action Man and Gi-Joe are nearly 60 years old, and as such we end up having to do quite a lot of repairs and restorations in this little workshop of ours, we also offer a limited service to our customers

Replacing Damaged Limbs, Re-Stringing Figures, Re-Attachment of Limbs, Heads and Hands, Talk Box Repairs (MKI, MKII & 40th) and Re-Flocking Heads. Please note that we no longer offer uniform repairs as these are very time consuming, and in many cases the cost outweighs the value of the uniform being repaired.

We carry a huge stock of clothing, weapons and accessories for both Vintage and Modern Action Man, GI Joe and other 1/6 scale figures.

SPARE PARTS

We have a lot of new and used parts in stock, if we don’t have what you are looking for we will always try to point you in the direction of someone who might.

Please note that although we may have some in stock for our own use, we do not sell repro parts, replacement hands, feet or standard sticker sheets on their own as there are plenty of people out there who already sell these.
